Check out the new Gypsee Hussle Interview for MarQuest Magazine March 2025.

Where were you born and raised, and how did your environment shape your music?
I was born and raised in Long Beach, CA. Music has always been a part of my life—both of my parents were musicians. My mom sang and played the harp for the Long Beach Symphony Orchestra, while my dad was a studio musician who dropped a successful gospel record in the late ‘90s. Growing up in that environment gave me a deep love for music and an understanding of the grind that comes with it.
Who were some of your biggest influences growing up, and how have they impacted your sound?
I drew a lot of inspiration from my friends and the people around me who did music. Kendrick Lamar has been a huge influence—he’s my favorite artist, and good kid, m.A.A.d city really resonated with me. I also learned a lot from my brother Dave from Compton, who owns 15Fifteen Media, and my brother Prynce, who makes music as BLUE STRIP PABLO.
Your Aux Connect Freestyle was straight fire! What was that experience like for you?
Man, it was dope! I actually won the whole thing through an online poll they did—shoutout to @djcharliecinco‼️ I had a booking coming up in Hollywood with my boy @westcoastluke, so we timed it right. We drove out to the IE first, knocked out the performance videos, did a quick interview, then hit the road back to Hollywood in time for my show.

When you’re in the studio or writing, what does your creative process look like?
Music is everywhere, so I’m always writing—whether it’s a quick bar or a full song. When I hit the studio, I usually have notes or something written to work from. I like to start my sessions with a warm-up freestyle or a verse with no hook just to get the energy right before moving into the main track.
If someone is hearing Gypsee Hussle for the first time, how would you describe your sound and message?
I’d say energetic, raw, and hungry. I rap with passion because I want people to feel that I love this and want this more than I want to breathe. Every track is me giving it everything I got.
Your name itself speaks on hustle. What does the grind mean to you, both in music and in life?
The grind keeps me focused. I’ve been in poverty. I’ve been in prison. I’ve been homeless. I’ve gone without. And I told myself I refuse to let that happen again or let anyone control my destiny. So I go out and work as hard as I can, for as long as I can, every single day.
When can fans expect your next project, and can you give us any details on what’s coming?
All I can say is—it’s about to be a HOT summer! 🥵🔥☀️🤫 Follow me on instagram.com/GypseeHussle
Are there any artists or producers you’re working with or hoping to collaborate with soon?
I want to do more music with my guys @saviicross @fatstheman and really anyone who can keep up 🤷🏾♂️. I’ve been looking for a dope female artist—the last one I worked with was kinda lame, lol. I’d love to collaborate with @capolow304 @dsz3n @spanknittyjames @conradfrmdaave @comptonav @1takejay @lilvada, and a few other names I got in mind.

Staying Authentic

The industry is full of trends—how do you stay true to your vision while still evolving?
Man, it’s hard, lol. But I refuse to be anything other than real. Anyone who truly knows me knows that. That being said, people are gonna see a few different sides of my music this year—I’m growing as an artist, but I’m always gonna stay me.
What’s one message you want to leave with your fans and those who are just now discovering you?
LIFE IS SHORT. IF YOU HAVE A DREAM, CHASE IT. IF YOU HAVE A GOAL, REACH IT. BELIEVE IN YOURSELF OR NO ONE ELSE WILL. I DO THIS FOR THE PEOPLE IN MY LIFE WHO CAN’T. FOR THE PEOPLE I’VE LOST. THERE ARE PEOPLE BACK HOME PROUD OF HOW FAR I’VE COME, AND I HAVEN’T EVEN DONE MUCH YET. I NEVER REALLY BELIEVED I’D BE AN ARTIST, BUT IT WAS MY DREAM. CONFIDENCE IS THE KEY TO SUCCESS, AND I’M CONFIDENT THAT I WILL BE SUCCESSFUL AND GREAT ONE DAY‼️
